BridgeValley chooses new president | State and region

The Board of Governors of BridgeValley Community and Technical College (BVCTC) has selected Dr Casey K. Sacks as its chair.

Sacks has been acting president of the BVCTC since June 25, when the college searched for a new president. He had most recently served as Acting Vice Chancellor for the West Virginia Community and Technical College System.

“The Board of Directors is delighted with the appointment of Dr Sacks as President of BridgeValley,” Board Chair Ashley Deem said in a press release. “She has demonstrated a strong, long-term commitment to the institution and has done an excellent job in her role as Interim President over the past six months.

“We are already in a position to see the positive impact of its results-oriented approach and look forward to seeing what we accomplish together over the next few years,” Deem said in the statement.

Sacks began his career as a geriatric psychologist before moving on to a career in higher education. She spent more than twelve years in leadership positions in higher education, many of them in the West Virginia Community and Technical College System (WVCTCS).

She received a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University; a master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a doctorate from Bowling Green State University. She holds a doctorate in philosophy of higher education administration.
