UDHAMPUR: Radhika Sharma of semester 2 of the Government College for Women Udhampur was declared best lecturer in an intercollegiate competition on the theme “Status of Women in Gandhian Philosophy”.
The competition was organized by the Department of Music in conjunction with the NSS Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur unit via the online mode here today. Vice-principal of the host college, Professor Kewel Kumar was the guest of honor on this occasion.
Khushi Sharma from Semester 3 and Anjali Sharma from Semester 1 were placed second and third, respectively, while Muskan and Shreya Sharma from Semester 4 took home the consolation prizes.
No less than 29 students participated in the program and deliberated on the different facets of Gandhian philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kewel said the Gandhian philosophy of love and non-violence is more relevant in the current scenario. He notably called on the students to follow in Gandhi Ji’s footsteps to become an asset for the Nation. He praised the efforts of the NSS Unit and the Department of Music to hold the Symposium on the Status of Women in Gandhian Philosophy in the institution, which would certainly inspire students to follow the preaching of a great leader in their daily life.
Previously, the head of the music department, Dr Seema Sharma gave a brief summary of the department’s activities in the institution. She informed that the department has organized a series of activities at regular intervals to provide a platform for aspiring students to channel their talent in the right direction.
Dr. Kewal Kumar, Department of Botany GCW Udhampur, Prof. Swarna Department of Political Science GDC Ramnagar and Dr. Kamal Deep Kour Department of English GDC Nelli Nallha acted as judges while Neesha from the 5th NSS Volunteer led the program discussions.
HOD Music, Dr Seema Sharma, Assistant Professor of Zoology (Head of NSS) Sumita Rao, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Professor of Zoology Tania Mahjan, Assistant Professor of Geography Pooja Bharti, Assistant Professor of Music Dr Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Yash Kumar’s Music Prof, senior professors and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
