Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Humanities has launched a Bachelor of Arts program in Philosophy and Ethics under the College of Arts and Humanities, the first such university offering in the region.

It was developed in accordance with the university’s objective to broaden its academic programs in such a way as to contribute to the dissemination of the values ​​of Islam and to strengthen the bonds of human brotherhood.

Approved by the Academic Accreditation Commission of the UAE Ministry of Education, the university’s latest degree program will be open to local and international students for admissions.

Dr. Khaled Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH, emphasized that the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Ethics program embodies the UAE’s commitment to moral and philosophical education, as well as the promotion of universal principles and values ​​that reflect the common experiences of mankind – which are also in line with the vision and goals of the university.

He added, “The bachelor’s degree program reflects the university’s efforts to expand its academic offerings and improve its curriculum to help students acquire skills that, in the process, will provide significant support for the diversification economy in key non-oil sectors such as education and media, among others, it can also attract talent to Abu Dhabi and help the capital to become a major destination for skilled professionals and specialists from around the world who can provide services at the highest level, thereby enhancing cultural diversification in the emirate and strengthening communication, community cohesion and social security while preserving national identity.

By establishing the Philosophy and Ethics degree program, the university aims to strengthen its philosophical and social sciences program as part of its aspiration to be a distinguished center of academic excellence in the field of humanities locally and international.

It supports the university’s strategic growth aspirations to improve its course offerings by offering new programs that will lead to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in the humanities and philosophy. Furthermore, it hopes to produce outstanding leaders and thinkers capable of supporting the university’s vision of spreading the true values ​​of Islam, encouraging creative and critical thinking, as well as meeting the demands of the job market. of the UAE.

The study plan of the Bachelor’s program in Philosophy and Ethics includes 120 hours and 13 courses of the general education program, in addition to the courses of research and innovation, Islamic philosophy, Islamic civilization and artificial intelligence, among others, which will provide students with a comprehensive education. .

Students should acquire knowledge and skills as well as broaden their abilities through the study of philosophy and its history, the history of science and logic, writing and speaking skills, comparative religions, Islam and the discourse of renewal, ethical doctrines, ethics of communication, contemporary intellectual issues, contemporary ethics and philosophy, international humanitarian law and theories, in addition to field training and a project graduation.

The curriculum, where both English and Arabic will be used as the medium of instruction, has been designed after a comprehensive review of similar programs at top universities overseas, to establish a solid curriculum. The process of setting up the program was managed by internal and external committees and was audited by the Academic Accreditation Committee.

Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Humanities has specialized and qualified professionals who have extensive experience and recognized expertise in teaching, research and community service, to implement and continuously develop this program. This interdisciplinary program combines the theoretical and practical aspects of the study and application of philosophy and ethics to enable students to acquire a solid foundation of knowledge and skills based on the best academic practices.

The program will be closely linked with other units of the university, including the Department of Tolerance and Coexistence, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, History, Languages ​​and others, to enable graduates to develop comprehensive skills that will enable them to find innovative solutions to current and future challenges. .
